Uncertain States The 10th Anniversary Edition, Issue X was designed ‘to be a vehicle for celebrating and marking the extraordinary contributions Uncertain States has made to the continual development of the medium through the collaborations with writers, artists and academics in the last 10 years’. It was a pleasure to co-edit this issue of the broadsheet alongside researcher and fellow photographer Juneko Haga (Human Interfaces Creative Lab).
Issue X includes photography by the Founders of UCS as well as text titled; ‘Uncertain States 2009-2019’ (Fiona Yaron-Field), ‘Uncertain States An Unreliable History’ (David George) & ‘Uncertain States A Place to Reflect’ (Spencer Rowell).
The publication also features the photographic work of a further eleven artists including; Andrei Nacu, Andrew Holligan, Chris Dorley-Brown, Francisco Gomez de Villaboa, Kirstin Hacker, Leslie Hakim-Dowek, Michelle Sank, Pippa Healy, Richard Sawdon Smith, Rob Hillier & Sophie Ellen.
A collection of notable events from 2009 - 2019 are featured upon the back cover. These key events reflect some of the changes in society that have occurred within the past decade, ranging from the political, the social and the artistic.
