I was delighted to be on the selection panel for the 2021 Summer Open Exhibition at Babylon ARTS in Ely, Cambridgeshire. The full selection panel was made up of myself and:
Iwona Smyk, a synesthetic abstract artist based in Ely. Iwona enjoys experimenting with acrylics to create texture and definition and is passionate about bold colours, believing they are strongly associated with emotions.
Olu Taiwo, a mixed-media artist from Boston, Lincolnshire. He recently curated his own exhibition, I Matter, at the Babylon Gallery, featuring the work of fifteen Black, Asian and minority ethnic artists.
Liz Falconbridge, a curator with 30 years' experience in the arts in the Eastern Region, Liz has curated hundreds of exhibitions featuring work by local, regional, national and international artists.
Stuart Green, the Babylon Gallery’s exhibition installer, and an artist and tutor with over fifty years of experience in art education.
Babylon ARTS welcomed submissions from all artists, in particular those living in Cambridgeshire, West Norfolk and West Suffolk. Thanks to to funding received from Arts Council England to help the gallery through the Covid-19 crisis, Babylon ARTS were again able to offer this opportunity without an entry fee.
The resulting exhibition ran from the 5th - 30th August and featured an exciting range of artworks from a diverse range of artists including sculptures, paintings, drawings, digital artwork, video, glassware, textiles, jewellery and mixed medium work. With over 100 artworks from both professional and amateur artists based in East Anglia and beyond.
